Home School Agreement

Principles

As a parent you are entitled to expect that we will:

  • Provide a fulfilling and challenging, broad based education which will provide each student with the best possible learning opportunities
  • Encourage all children to do their best in all aspects of school life
  • Provide a secure and caring environment with appropriate support as needed
  • Promote the values of Honesty, Empathy, Ambition, Respect and Trust throughout the school
  • Provide a clear, structured framework for discipline
  • Maintain a positive environment for learning
  • Communicate regularly with you about your children’s effort and progress and general school matters
  • Maintain up to date, non biased, accessible resources for learning
  • Set and mark homework and coursework assignments

As a school we expect that as parents/carers you will:

  • Take an active interest in and support your child’s education
  • Encourage your child to do their best and work hard at all times
  • Provide a suitable place for your child to complete homework tasks and provide time when possible to help them should they need it.
  • Actively support the school’s approach to discipline and accept responsibility for your child’s behaviour
  • Actively promote the values of Honesty, Empathy, Ambition, Respect and Trust
  • Encourage your child to take pride in William Edwards School and to play their part in school activities, inside and outside the classroom.
  • Contact the school at an early stage in the event of any problems
  • Support your child’s progress and achievement by attending parents evenings, support evenings and other school events when possible
  • Ensure that your child attends school in order to maximise their achievement, aiming for 100% attendance

As a school we expect that as a pupil you will:

  • Try your best at all times, showing a positive attitude towards learning
  • Complete all class work, coursework and homework to deadlines and to the best of your ability
  • Wear the school’s uniform properly, taking pride in your appearance
  • Follow the school’s Code of Conduct allowing all students the opportunity to learn without distractions and taking responsibility for your own behaviour.
  • Show a sense of pride in being a member of William Edwards School
  • Actively adhere at all times to the values of Honesty, Empathy, Ambition, Respect and Trust in your behaviour towards other students, staff and visitors
  • Take an active role in extracurricular activities
  • Arrive on time to school and aim for 100% attendance
