– Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl, 7th July 2017
Last week, students walked many miles to complete their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award; next week, students from William Edwards will be taking part in a joint dance project with students from Beacon Hill Academy. Youngsters who face real challenges in their lives have choreographed some fantastic routines for a dance showcase to be performed at Palmer’s College next week.
We have students here at William Edwards who speak 16 different languages, including British Sign Language (Emily is signing this assembly)
We have amazing students who are real ambassadors for local clubs, causes and charities.
Some of the hobbies enjoyed by William Edwards students include: playing the guitar, attending stage school, dancing, playing steel drums, playing for sports teams and caring for pets – to name just a few.
We have also just welcomed our Year 6 students who have been spending Induction Week with us, so we thought we’d find out a bit about them and amongst other activities, they: play a wide range of musical instruments, belong to sports teams, attend cadets/scouts and other out-of-school groups and take part in dance and drama performances.
Welcome to all of you, you are coming to us from a wide range of primary schools with a wide range of interests and experience, and we look forward to welcoming you back as an official part of the William Edwards School in September.
The theme of this assembly was diversity and I hope that we have identified some of the many things that make William Edwards School a diverse and welcoming place for all of our students.
