Sam Gregory: 2004-2009

My favourite memory of William Edwards:

Canoeing down the Ardèche river and relaxing in the South of France in year 10!

Post 16 education/training:

I attended Palmers College from 2009 to 2011 studying History, Politics, English Literature, Economics and the Extended Project.

Higher Education:

Following Palmers I studied History and Politics at Lancaster University.

I was awarded a training contract by Slaughter and May, a magic circle corporate law firm, during my final year at Lancaster University. Slaughter and May then funded my attendance at BPP Law School for the GDL, which is the Graduate Diploma in Law (conversion to law course), and the Legal Practice Course, the latter of which I finished in 2016.

I then undertook a two year training contract with Slaughter and May (as a trainee solicitor), sitting in six month rotations of real estate, dispute resolution, corporate and a client secondment at Centrica, before I qualified as an associate in one of Slaughter and May’s corporate groups in March 2018.

My proudest achievement:

Becoming a solicitor / graduating with a first class degree in History and Politics.

Life and lifestyle events, hobbies & interests:

  • Watching rugby, football and cricket.
  • Kayaking.
  • Socialising with friends / family.
  • Going to concerts / the theatre.
  • Travelling

Personal achievements:

Becoming Vice President of my college at Lancaster University following a student election – and then organising freshers’ week for the college.

My advice to the present pupils of William Edwards:

Working hard is 9/10 of the journey. If you work hard, then people are always willing to help.

My next goal:

To one day become a Partner in a law firm.
